June Newsletter
Hello All! I want to thank everyone for a great year. The students have worked really hard, and while this next concert may be on the shorter side, they have put so much effort into learning skills and techniques that are crucial to playing not just stringed instruments, but also participating in any type of ensemble. That being said, if they are not signed up for an ensemble yet, please consider having them sign up. Music at the middle school is a different experience, one that I believe is quite positive. The growth as musicians and students is massive as they get to meet every day. I look forward to being able to pop into the classroom to say hi to familiar faces. Here is the sign-up sheet.
Concert Next Week! (June 10)
Many of you should be getting a paper handout with dress code and concert reminders this week. Our concert is June 10th at the Middle School. Students should arrive by 6pm. The concert will be at 6:30.
The Dress code for this concert is White and Black with a splash of color. Black Dresses are also acceptable.
I have told students that sandals are acceptable as well, however, please have them refrain from wearing Crocs, Sneakers, or Boots.
Instrument Returns
If you rent from Johnson Strings or Spencer Brooks and do no plan on keeping the rental over the summer please make sure that you return to the office before 6/17. That is their pick-up day if you do not make this turn-in date, you will need to make arrangements with your company.
If you have a loaner from the school, please make sure that they are returned to me on 6/17.
Lessons
If your student owns or is planning on keeping their instrument over the summer, consider enrolling them in private lessons. Even if it just over the summer it can help drastically improve technique as group lessons don’t teach everything. I will post a link below. Some teachers may even offer a trial lesson.
