January Newsletter
Hello Everyone,
We have almost made it through another month. I hope that all is well and that everyone is able to stay warm and healthy during this very cold week.
Concert Reminder
This is a quick reminder that our concert is March 4th! I am very excited to have all 5 elementary schools in the same place playing together. The students have all been working quite well, especially considering the new style of learning. I am very excited for them to show you the fruits of their hard work.
Date/Time |
March 4th |
6pm: All strings players report to the Middle School Cafeteria for tuning and warm-ups. |
6:30pm: Concert Start |
Attire: |
For our first concert, there will be no specific color requirement for attire. However, students are encouraged to wear colorful clothing. Please avoid wearing sneakers, sweatpants, sweatshirts, graphic t-shirts, sandals, Crocs, shorts, or leggings. |
If wearing a dress or skirt, it should be of knee-length or longer. |
Ties are optional, but encouraged! |
Saturday Schools
Since there are 5 Saturdays that we need to make up, I will be at each school once. I will try to email parents the week of to remind them to have the students bring in their instruments. We will also be doing normal class during February break.
January 25: North Beverly
February 8: Hannah
March 8: Cove
April 12: Centerville
May 10: Ayers
Private Lessons:
Private lessons are very helpful for many different reasons. The biggest reason as to why they are beneficial is that it allows the student to learn on a one-to-one basis, which allows the teacher to focus on things like posture and bow control. The reality of group learning is that small things are sometimes hard to catch. Private lessons also allows the learning plan to be tailored to meet the individual’s needs. It also allows students to get used to playing different repertoire that they would not normally have. There is a list of private instructors that can be found on the elementary strings website.
Extra Help:
Group lessons can be difficult for everyone to learn because we meet once a week and only have a half-hour to get all of the content learned. On top of that everyone learns at different paces. If you have a student that is experiencing difficulties with the current material, or are struggling to play, I would love to help out, but it is difficult to do so during our short 30-min lessons. Starting after February 1st, I will be available for extra help on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In order to sign-up for this, please fill out the form that can be found on the Elementary Strings Website. I can be at their elementary school around 2:25. Extra help will be first come, first served but will also be given to students who have not been. I hope to be able to make some time during lessons soon as the students have enough to work on to give me a few minutes for check-ins during class.
Keep in mind, I will always email to confirm about extra help. This extra help is not intended to be a private lesson format, and may have more than one student attending, depending on who signs-up, keep in mind that this is to help supplement what we are working on in class, not teach things that others would not learn in class.
